Overview
On 22 July 2011, Washington State made revisions to its Unfair Business Practices Act by inserting a new chapter titled "Sale of Products - Stolen or Misappropriated Information Technology". The law makes it an act of unfair competition for manufacturers to use counterfeit information technology products, in their business operations. Manufacturers who violate the law will face claims brought by the Attorney General of Washington State or by their competitors, seizure of their products, a prohibition of sale, as well as damages and penalties.
