Overview
This briefing from UAE specialists Hadef & Partners provides an overview to some of the key employment rules and provisions applicable to the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority.
Established in 1985, JAFZA is one of the largest free zones in the world, accommodating some 6,400 companies over 48 sq kms. The zone's underlying purpose is to provide a tax-free entrepot and a haven for commercial activity covering a variety of different industry sectors. In a way that has become a model for the other free zones in the UAE, JAFZA has established a “user-friendly” regime that permits businesses to operate without local participation or agency requirements, offers customs and duties exemptions on imported goods retained within the zone and a 50-year tax holiday.
After a brief introduction and history of the free zone, the briefing outlines JAFZA's key employment rules, including sponsorship, remuneration and termination. To read on, click 'View Briefing'
