Trimming the hedge fund

Overview

It needed Enron to give us Sarbanes-Oxley and it needed Madoff to give us the newly proposed Bill known as the Hedge Fund Transparency Act 2009.

Currently, hedge funds are exempt from the scrutiny of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) because they are exempt from the provisions of the two pieces of legislation that regulate investment companies and investment advisers.
