Trends in real estate investment - the 2011 survey and report

Overview

In September 2011, Nabarro's real estate team surveyed their clients to gauge opinion on current trends in the real estate funds market. Based on 195 responses, the resulting report highlights and comments on the findings of that survey. In broad terms, the survey found that:

  • investment appetite for risk has diminished and core funds appear now to be the preferred investment model;

  • large investors though are forming clubs and joint ventures or participating in co-investment opportunities with market specialists;

  • those who can, and have the skill and expertise, have been moving away from passive fund investment.

The survey examines these trends, comparing them with some of the findings in the 2010 fund trends survey, and looks at whether there is a divergence of opinion between fund managers and investors.
