Successful challenge to Council’s decision to cut adult care by up to £308m

Overview

When drawing up eligibility criteria for social care, councils should give due regard to their race, gender and disability duties to eliminate unlawful discrimination. These duties were previously set out in separate Acts (the Race Relations Act 1976, the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995) but have now been replaced and incorporated into the Equality Act 2010.
