Russia to screen foreign broadcasters

Overview

14 June 2011 saw the publication of Federal Law on amending certain items of Russian legislation with a view to improving regulation of the media market.

Amendments are introduced, among other laws, to Russian Law No. 2124-1 on the mass media. Under the new legislation, foreign radio and television channels will not be allowed to broadcast in Russia until they have been registered as mass media outlets.
