Redundancy – will your selection pass the objectivity test?

However, those employers intending to retain part of their workforce can still find themselves facing unfair dismissal or, more seriously, discrimination claims if they fail to tread carefully when it comes to selecting which employees are to stay and which must go. Senior Government ministers have thrown the spotlight onto this issue by raising alarm over recent figures suggesting that twice as many women are being made redundant as men in some parts of the country.
