Protecting the Pensions Protection Fund

Overview

The case involved the defined benefit pension scheme of Ilford Imaging UK Ltd. Ilford was already in insolvency before the PPF came into being and the trustee (ITS) was the only creditor with any real interest in converting administration into liquidation (to secure PPF entry via a post April 2005 “qualifying” insolvency event). Hence, the trustee was largely in control of the timing of that event.
