Overview
On 3rd June 2011, Hong Kong's Equal Opportunities Commission issued a revised Code of Practice on Employment under the Disability Discrimination Ordinance. This updated code is derived from experience gained by the EOC since the original publication of the Code in January 1997. The Code operates to protect persons with disabilities from discrimination and harassment (i) when applying for a job and (ii) in employment, and offers practical guidance to employers when implementing anti-discrimination measures in the workplace.
This briefing from Latham & Watkins outlines the purpose of the Code, what the introduction of case illustrations means for employers and how the Code helps to clarify certain provisions within the DDO.
