HM Treasury and HM Revenue & Customs (“HMRC”) have published their eagerly anticipated discussion document on proposals for reform of the UK’s controlled foreign companies (“CFC”) rules. The document focuses on the overall shape of the new rules and specifically addresses how those rules might apply in the context of overseas subsidiaries carrying on treasury or finance functions or holding intellectual property rights (“IP”).
