Government regulatory reform: the devil is in the detail - but where is it?

Overview

On 26 July 2010, the Treasury published a consultation paper entitled ‘A new approach to financial regulation: judgement, focus and stability’. The consultation paper does not set out in conclusive detail the Government’s plans for regulatory reform. Rather, it adds some further colour to the proposed regulatory structure that Chancellor George Osborne described in his Mansion House speech. Further consultation papers are promised by the Government.

In this briefing, Norton Rose takes a look at the additional details that are set out in the consultation paper and the Government’s current timetable for implementing the changes.
