Overview
A report of the Equality and Human Rights Commission published in 2011 reveals that the mean average gender pay gap was 15.5 per cent for hourly earnings (excluding overtime) and 21.5 per cent for gross weekly earnings.
In 2010 the Equality Act consolidated much of UK discrimination legislation and became the new home of the equal pay provisions. It made limited changes to the substance of the law in this area.
