Overview

This report provides detailed insight into M&A and project financing deals between European and Chinese renewable energy companies, as well as trends in non-transactional expansion initiatives such as technology licensing and localised manufacturing.

The findings are based on a survey of 120 senior executives split equally between Europe and China. The survey was conducted in July 2011 and was completed by five types of respondents: corporates, investors, debt providers, service providers and government agencies. To supplement the survey, interviews were also conducted with nine CEOs of renewable energy companies. The report is broadly split into four main categories:

● understanding the Chinese-European deal landscape;

● Chinese expansion to Europe - key drivers and opportunities;

● European expansion to China - key drivers and opportunities; and

● an overview of solar, wind and biomass energy in Europe and China.
