Overview
The first e-newsletter from UK law firm Eversheds' developers, construction and infrastructure group, whose regular updates will aim to address key, topical issues affecting the sector, offering analysis tailored to reflect the current state of the industry and what this could mean for the sector.
In response to the Spending Review last week, the eagerly anticipated Comprehensive document which sets out its spending plans for reducing the £155bn annual deficit, this two-page update looks at the key points that will directly have impact on the construction and development sector, the projects that have been curtailed, and where growth can still be expected.
It is now apparent from the Spending Review that budget cuts in a number of other areas, such as local government, social housing and justice, are going to mean investment in capital projects across other sectors will also fall considerably. However the new agenda of localism is likely to assist in the emergence of alternative funding models to underpin new development.
