Copyright law reform proposals - orphans, exchanges and MP3 players

Overview

Following Professor Hargreaves' Review of Intellectual Property comes a government consultation on reforming copyright law in the UK. A White Paper with proposals for legislation is to follow in Spring 2012.

The consultation is likely to generate a lively response since it covers a range of issues such as downloading CDs to MP3 players, 'voluntary' collective licensing of all copyright works (subject to an opt-out) and making 'orphan' works available for commercial use.

Wragge & Co's intellectual property specialists have prepared an overview on the consultation.
