Overview
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) recently announced that the Bribery Act 2010 will come into force on 1 July 2011.
Although private equity and venture capital firms operating in the regulated sector are already subject to various anti-corruption requirements, now is a good opportunity for firms to:
• Ensure that they are familiar with the scope of the offences created by the Bribery Act;
• Understand the risks in relation to investee companies and at the firm level; and
•Prepare for the practical impact of the legislation in the context of transactions and doing business generally.
