Overview
Copyright infringement by websites has been a serious problem in China for many years. Recently, China's largest search engine company Baidu was accused of copyright infringement because its online library platform Baidu Wenku allows users to upload documents for sharing.
Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyright has issued Guidance on the Protection of the Right to Network Dissemination of Information to address such problems of copyright infringement by websites.
The Guidance will become effective on August 1, 2011 and will become an important basis for evaluating copyright infringement status of a company by the copyright administrative authority.
