Top banking cases of 2009

Overview

In December 2009 Arnondo Chakrabati and James Partridge, Litigation partners specialising in banking disputes, gave a well received talk to 85 clients at Allen & Overy's Bishops Square offices in which they focused on some of the most notable banking cases that have passed through the English Courts in the last year. Summarised below are Arnondo and James' selection of significant banking cases of 2009, many of which were covered in their seminar.

Also included at the end of this summary are details of two important pieces of European legislation concerning governing law which came into force in 2009 (RomeI and Rome II), as well details about the initiation of a consultation process by EU Commission on the workings of the Brussels Regulation (which sets out jurisdictional rules for most EU Member States).
