A new approach to financial regulation - the Government's consultation on reform

Overview

The financial secretary to the Treasury, Mark Hoban MP, has launched the Government’s consultation on the implementation of reforms to financial regulation. This document sets out detailed proposals for reform of the financial services sector, first announced by Chancellor George Osborne on 16 June.

This consultation has been launched to gather views on proposals to provide the Bank of England with control of macro-prudential regulation and oversight of micro-prudential regulation, and is aimed at financial services firms, including banks, building societies, insurance firms, independent financial advisors, exchanges, brokers and related trade associations, as well as consumer representatives.
