Overview

In recognition of confusion within Member States as to the state aid rules regarding the funding of Services of General Economic Interest (SGEIs), the European Commission (the EC) has opened a formal consultation process inviting comments from interested parties.

The UK Government (and other Member States) has already provided the EC with high level comments in terms of the application of the SGEI rules, as well as details of SGEIs operating in the UK currently.
